GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.
SHAWL
Worked back and forth on circular needle. Beg at the top and work downwards/outwards.
Cast on 15 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with Merino Extra Fine and work as follows:
Row 1 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, K 6, 1 YO, K 1, 1 YO, K 6, 1 YO, K 1 = 19 sts on needle. Insert a marker in the middle st.
Row 2 (= WS): Do not work YOs twisted, they should make holes. Work K 1, 1 YO, K until 1 st remains, 1 YO and K 1 = 2 sts inc.
Row 3: K 1, 1 YO, K until mid st, 1 YO, K 1 (= mid st), 1 YO, K until 1 st remains, 1 YO and K 1 = 4 sts inc. Repeat 2nd and 3rd row 8 times in total (= 8 ridges) = 67 sts on row. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION
Then work as follows until finished measurements:
Row 1 (= WS): K 1, 1 YO, P until 1 st remains, 1 YO and K 1 = 2 sts inc.
Row 2 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, * K 2 tog, 1 YO , repeat from - until 1 st remains before mid st, K 1, 1 YO, K 1 (= mid st), 1 YO, * K 2 tog, 1 YO , repeat from - until 2 sts remain, K 1, 1 YO, K 1 = 4 sts inc.
Row 3: Work K 1, 1 YO, P until 1 st remains (do not work YOs twisted, they should make holes), 1 YO and K 1 = 2 sts inc.
Row 4: K 1, 1 YO, K until mid st, 1 YO, K 1 (= mid st), 1 YO, K until 1 st remains, 1 YO and K 1 = 4 sts inc.
Row 5: Work K 1, 1 YO, K until 1 st remains, 1 YO and K 1 = 2 sts inc.
Row 6: K 1, 1 YO, K until mid st, 1 YO, K 1 (= mid st), 1 YO, K until 1 st remains, 1 YO and K 1 = 4 sts inc.
Repeat 5th and 6th row 4 times in total (= 4 ridges). Continue this pattern and inc upwards, i.e. 4 ridges between every lace pattern. Cast off when piece measures 36 cm, measured along mid st, adjust to finish after 4 ridges.
