KNITTING TENSION
26 stitches in width and 34 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

HEEL DECREASES
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn.
Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 16-16-18 stitches left on the needle.
DECREASE TIP (for toe):
Start 3 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). Repeat at the other marker.
SOCK – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round, top down.
LEG
Cast on 56-60-64 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and DROPS Fabel.
Work 2 rounds of stocking stitch, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 2-2-3 cm.
After the rib work stocking stitch until piece measures 3-3-4 cm from cast on edge – AT THE SAME TIME on the first round decrease 2 stitches evenly spaced = 54-58-62 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
HEEL AND FOT
Work stocking stitch over the first 13-14-15 stitches and keep these stitches on the needle, place the next 28-30-32 stitches on a thread (top of foot) and keep the last 13-14-15 stitches on the needle = 26-28-30 heel-stitches.
Work stocking stitch back and forth over the heel stitches for 6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from this marker.
Work HEEL DECREASES – read description above.
After the heel decreases work as follows: Stocking stitch over the 16-16-18 heel stitches, knit up 16-16-17 stitches along the side of the heel, stocking stitch over the 28-30-32 stitches from the thread and knit up 16-16-17 stitches along the other side of the heel = 76-78-84 stitches. Work to the middle of the heel – the round now starts here.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches on top of the foot.
Work stocking stitch in the round and decrease at each marker as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the second marker.
Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 12-11-12 times = 52-56-60 stitches.
Continue working until the foot measures 18-19-21 cm from the marker on the heel and measured under the foot. There is approx. 4-5-6 cm left to finished length; try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for the toe.
TOE
Insert 1 marker in each side, with 26-28-30 stitches both underneath and on top of the foot. Work stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME on the first round decrease on each side of both markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4-7-9 times, then every round 6-3-2 times = 12-16-16 stitches.
On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 6-8-8 stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.
The foot measures approx. 22-24-27 cm measured under the foot.
Work the other sock in the same way.
