NEEDLES
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 5 MM.
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 4 MM.
The technique MAGIC LOOP can be used – you then only need 80 cm circular needle in each size.
KNITTING TENSION
16 stitches in width and 20 rows in height, with stocking stitch on needle size 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

DOUBLE STRAND
If you are working with 2 strands, use the strand from both the inside and outside of the ball.
INCREASE TIP
INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the back of the needle.
INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the front of the needle.
WRIST WARMERS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, from the wrist upwards.
LEFT WRIST WARMER
Cast on 26-28-30 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm and 1 strand DROPS Melody or 2 strands DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk (or you can work Italian cast-on) – read DOUBLE STRAND in explanations above.
Work rib in the round (purl 1, knit 1) for 5-5-6 cm.
Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 1 stitch = 27-29-31 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Continue stocking stitch, increasing on one side– read INCREASE TIP, as follows:
Knit until there are 7-8-9 stitches left on the round, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit to end of round (1 stitch increased).
Increase like this, before the last 7-8-9 stitches, every 2nd round a total of 6-7-8 times = 33-36-39 stitches. The piece measures approx. 11-12-14 cm from the cast-on edge.
Work the next round as follows: Knit until there are 7-8-9 stitches left on the round, place these 7-8-9 stitches on a stitch holder (= thumb-stitches), cast on 1 stitch above the thumb-stitches = 27-29-31 stitches.
Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 15-17-20 cm from the cast-on edge. Cast off slightly loosely with knit.
THUMB
Place the 7-8-9 thumb-stitches on double pointed needles size 5 mm and knit up 3 stitches behind the thumb (1 stitch before the cast-on stitch, the cast-on stitch and 1 stitch after the cast-on stitch) = 10-11-12 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round for 2-2½-2½ cm. Cast off slightly loosely with knit.
RIGHT WRIST WARMER
Cast on 26-28-30 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm (or you can work Italian cast-on) – read DOUBLE STRAND in explanations above. Work rib in the round (purl 1, knit 1) for 5-5-6 cm.
Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 1 stitch = 27-29-31 stitches.
Continue stocking stitch, increasing on one side – remember INCREASE TIP, as follows:
Knit 7-8-9, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to end of round (1 stitch increased).
