KNITTING TENSION
26 stitches in width and 34 rows in height, with stocking stitch on needle size 3 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

HEEL DECREASES
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn.
Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 16-16-18 stitches left.
DECREASE TIP (for toe):
Start 3 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). Repeat at the other marker.
SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round top down, with double pointed needles.
LEG
Cast on 56-60-64 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and DROPS Fabel.
Work 2 rounds of stocking stitch, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 5-5-6 cm.
Continue with stocking stitch, decreasing 2 stitches evenly on the first round = 54-58-62 stitches. Work until the piece measures 7-7-8 cm. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now work the heel and foot.
HEEL AND FOOT
Keep the first 13-14-15 stitches on the needle for the heel, place the next 28-30-32 stitches on a thread (mid-top of foot), keep the last 13-14-15 stitches on the needle for the heel = 26-28-30 heel-stitches.
Work stocking stitch back and forth across the heel-stitches for 6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from this marker.
Work HEEL DECREASES – read description above.
After the heel decreases, work as follows from the right side: Work the 16-16-18 heel-stitches, knit up 16-16-17 stitches along one side of the heel, work the 28-30-32 stitches from the thread, knit up 16-16-17 stitches along the other side of the heel = 76-78-84 stitches. Work to mid-under the heel – the round begins here.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches on top of the foot.
Work stocking stitch and decrease on each side as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the second marker. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 12-11-12 times = 52-56-60 stitches.
Continue working until the foot measures 18-19-21 cm from the heel-marker, measured under the foot.
There is approx. 4-5-6 cm left to finished length; try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for the toe.
TOE
Insert 1 marker in each side with 26-28-30 stitches both on top of and underneath the foot. Continue with stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME on the first round decrease for the toe on both sides of both markers– read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4-7-9 times, then every round 6-3-2 times = 12-16-16 stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 6-8-8 stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The foot measures approx. 22-24-27 cm from the heel-marker, measured under the foot.
