PATTERN
See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show the pattern seen from RS. Work the entire pattern in stocking st.
LEFT MITTEN
Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 52 sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm with light pearl grey. Work 4 rounds in rib = K 2/P 2. Then work according to diagram A.1. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When it has been worked up to the 3 black squares in the diagram, work A.2 over these 3 sts, continue remaining sts according to A.1. When A.2 has been worked to and with 13th round and inc have been done 5 times, slip the 13 thumb sts on 1 stitch holder. Cast on 3 new sts behind sts on stitch holder = 52 sts. Work pattern according to A.1. When beg to dec for fingers, dec with off white on each side of 3 sts in each side (= 1 st light pearl grey, 1 st off white and 1 st light pearl grey). After all dec are done there are 12 sts on needle. Cut the yarns and pull them through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Piece measures approx. 27 cm.
THUMB
Slip the 13 thumb sts back on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Pick up 9 sts behind the thumb = 22 sts. Continue in the round according to A.2. Dec with off white on each side of 2 sts with light pearl grey. After all dec are done there are 8 sts on needle. Cut the yarns and pull them through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
RIGHT MITTEN
Cast on and work as left mitten but reversed, i.e. the 3 black squares for thumb are worked in 2nd, 3rd and 4th st from the right in the diagram.
