SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down.
LEG
Cast on 32-36-40 (44-48) stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and DROPS Fiesta. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 5-6-7 (8-9) cm.
Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Now work the heel and foot.
HEEL AND FOOT
Work stocking stitch across the first 9-9-9 (9-13) stitches and keep these stitches on the needles, place the next 16-16-20 (24-24) stitches on a thread (top of foot), keep the last 7-11-11 (11-11) stitches on the needles = 16-20-20 (20-24) heel-stitches on the needles.
Work stocking stitch back and forth across these stitches for 3½-4-4½ (5-5) cm.
Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from here.
Work HEEL DECREASES – read description above!
After the heel decreases, continue in the round as follows: Knit the 8-10-10 (10-12) heel-stitches, knit up 8-9-10 (12-12) stitches along one side of the heel, work rib across the 16-16-20 (24-24) stitches from the thread, knit up 8-9-10 (12-12) stitches along the other side of the heel = 40-44-50 (58-60) stitches. Work to mid-under the foot – the round now starts here.
Continue with rib across the 16-16-20 (24-24) top stitches and stocking stitch across the other stitches. Insert 1 marker on each side of the middle 14-14-18-22-22 ribbed stitches. On the first round decrease 1 stitch before the first marker and decrease 1 stitch after the second marker – read DECREASE TIP-1.
Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 3-4-5 (8-8) times = 34-36-40 (42-44) stitches.
Continue working until the foot measures 8-9-10 (11-13) cm from the heel-marker and measured under the foot. There is 3-3-3 (4-4) cm left to finished length.
TOE
Insert 1 marker in each side of the sock, with 17-18-20 (21-22) stitches both on top of and underneath the foot. Work stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME on the first round, decrease for the toe on each side of both markers – read DECREASE TIP-2.
Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 3-3-2 (4-4) times, then every round 4-4-6 (5-5) times = 6-8-8 (6-8) stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The foot measures approx. 11-12-13 (15-17) cm from the heel-marker and measured under the foot.
