DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 5 MM: Length 40 cm.
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 5 MM.
The technique MAGIC LOOP can be used – you then only need circular needle of 80 cm.
KNITTING TENSION
17 stitches in width and 22 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

DECREASE TIP
Decrease as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together.
HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked bottom up with circular needle. Change to double pointed needles when necessary, while decreasing at the top.
HAT
Cast on 88-96 stitches with short circular needle size 5 mm and DROPS Alaska. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 22-24 cm.
REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
On the next round decrease all purl-2 to purl-1 by purling 2 together = 66-72 stitches.
Continue the new rib (knit 2, purl 1) until the piece measures 24-26 cm.
Now decrease all purled stitches by knitting them together with the next knitted stitch = 44-48 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch. On the next round insert 6 markers as follows: Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round, knit 8, insert 1 marker, then insert the other 4 markers with 7-8 stitches between each one. There are 8 stitches left after the last marker. Decrease 1 stitch before each marker - read DECREASE TIP above. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4 times = 20-24 stitches.
Work 1 round where all stitches are knitted together 2 and 2 = 10-12 stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.
The hat measures approx. 28-30 cm from the cast-on edge. Fold up the bottom 7 cm to the right side.
