RIGHT MITTEN
Worked in the round. Cast on 58-64 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel. K 1 round and continue in rib, K1/P1, until rib measures 6 cm. K 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME dec 10 sts evenly = 48-54 sts. Continue in stocking st. When piece measures 7 cm inc 1 st for thumb each side of the 3rd and 4th st at beg of round. Inc with YO, to avoid a hole K YO into back of loop on next round. Repeat the inc on each side of the inc sts on every other round a total of 5-6 times = 12-14 thumb sts (58-66 sts in total). When piece measures 12-13 cm slip the 12-14 thumb-sts on a stitch holder. On next round cast on 2 new sts behind thumb-sts = 48-54 sts. Continue in the round in stocking st until piece measures 22-23 cm (3.5-4 cm remain). Now insert a marker each side (i.e. 24-27 sts on upper hand and 24-27 sts in palm of hand). Continue in stocking st, AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st each side of each marker (= 4 dec sts). Dec as follows 2 sts before marker: Slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. Dec as follows after marker: K2 tog. Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 7-8 times = 20-22 sts left on needle. K2 tog across next round = 10-11 sts left. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
THUMB
Slip the 12-14 sts from stitch holder back on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and pick up 2 sts behind these sts = 14-16 sts. Work stocking st in the round for approx 5.5-6 cm and K2 tog across next round = 7-8 sts. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
LEFT MITTEN
Like right but mirrored, i.e. inc for thumb each side of the 45th and 46th st in S/M and each side of 51st and 52nd st in M/L.
