KNITTING TENSION
19 stitches in width and 25 rows in height, with stocking stitch on needle size 4 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

HEEL DECREASES
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 4-5-5 stitches left, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 4-5-5 stitches left, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn.
Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 12-12-14 stitches left.
DECREASE TIP
Start 3 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased).
SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round top down, with double pointed needles and 1 strand of each colour.
LEG
Cast on 52-56-56 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm and 1 strand of each colour DROPS Fabel (2 strands).
Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) in the round for 8-8-8 cm.
Continue with stocking stitch, decreasing 8-8-6 stitches evenly on the first round = 44-48-50 stitches. When the piece measures 12-13-13 cm, decrease 2 stitches mid-back as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left on the round, knit 2 together, knit 2, knit 2 together = 42-46-48 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 16-17-18 cm. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now work the heel and foot.
HEEL AND FOOT
Work stocking stitch across the first 10-11-12 stitches and keep these stitches on the needle for the heel, work the next 22-24-24 stitches and place them on a thread (mid-top of foot), work the last 10-11-12 stitches = 20-22-24 heel-stitches.
Work stocking stitch back and forth across the heel-stitches for 6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from this marker.
Work HEEL DECREASES – read description above.
After the heel decreases, work as follows from the right side: Work the 12-12-14 heel-stitches, knit up 11-11-12 stitches along one side of the heel, work the 22-24-24 stitches from the thread, knit up 11-11-12 stitches along the other side of the heel = 56-58-62 stitches. Work to mid-under the heel – the round begins here.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the 22-24-24 stitches on top of the foot.
Work stocking stitch and decrease on each side as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the second marker. Decrease like this every round a total of 3 times, then every 2nd round 8-7-7 times = 34-38-42 stitches.
Continue working until the foot measures 18-20-20 cm from the heel-marker, measured under the foot.
There is approx. 4-4-6 cm left to finished length; try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for the toe.
TOE
Insert 1 marker in each side with 16-18-20 stitches on top of the foot and 18-20-22 stitches under the foot. Continue with stocking stitch and decrease for the toe on both sides of both markers on the first round – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4-4-6 times, then every round 2-3-2 times = 10-10-10 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The foot measures approx. 22-24-26 cm from the heel-marker, measured under the foot.
