LEFT MITTEN

Knit the first 7-8-9 stitches on the round, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to end of round (1 increased stitch).
Increase 1 stitch towards the left as follows:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the back loop.

RIGHT MITTEN

Knit until there are 7-8-9 stitches left on the round, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit to end of round (1 increased stitch).
Increase 1 stitch towards the right as follows:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the front loop.

MITTENS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, from the cuff upwards.

LEFT MITTEN

Cast on 28-30-31 stitches with double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands) - not too tightly!
Knit 1 round and decrease 4 stitches evenly spaced = 24-26-27 stitches.
Work stocking stitch in the round for 6-6-7 cm. Knit 1 round and increase 2 stitches evenly spaced = 26-28-29 stitches. Insert 1 marker, the piece is now measured from here. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Continue working and increase 1 stitch on one side of the mitten – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 2nd round a total of 6-7-8 times = 32-35-37 stitches.
Knit 1 round. The piece measures approx. 6-7-8 cm from the marker.
On the next round, place the first 7-8-9 stitches on a thread/stitch holder, cast on 1 stitch behind these stitches, knit to end of round = 26-28-29 stitches.

Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 14-15-16 cm from the marker. There is approx. 3-3-3 cm left.
On the next round decrease 4 stitches evenly spaced. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 3 times, then every round one time = 10-12-13 stitches.
On the next round, knit 1 then knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 5-6-7 stitches.
Cut the strand, thread it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The mitten measures approx. 23-24-26 cm.

THUMB

Place the 7-8-9 thumb-stitches from the stitch holder onto double pointed needles size 4.5 mm. In addition, knit up 3 stitches behind the thumb (1 stitch before the cast-on stitch, the cast-on stitch and 1 stitch after the cast-on stitch) = 10-11-12 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round for 5½-6-6½ cm. On the next round, knit 0-1-0 then knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 5-6-6 stitches.
Cut the strand, thread it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.

RIGHT MITTEN

Cast on 28-30-31 stitches with double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality.
Work in the same way as the left mitten, but increase on the opposite side of the mitten as described in INCREASE TIP.
When placing thumb-stitches on the thread/stitch holder, knit until there are 7-8-9 stitches left on the round, place the last 7-8-9 stitches on a thread/stitch holder, cast on 1 stitch behind the thumb-stitches = 26-28-29 stitches.
Finish in the same way as the left mitten.
