EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN
GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side.
1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows.
PICOT-EDGE
Worked across the last 4 stitches on the row (from the right side):
ROW 1 (right side): Knit.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Knit.
ROW 3 (right side): Knit 2 together, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 in each of the last 2 stitches on the row (2 increased stitches and 6 stitches in the picot-edge).
ROW 4 (wrong side): Slip the first stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over, knit 1, pass the back stitch on the right needle over the front stitch (2 stitches decreased), knit 3.
Repeat ROWS 1-4.
INCREASE TIP
All increases are worked from the right side!
Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is knitted twisted on the next row to avoid a hole.
DECREASE TIP
All decreases are worked from the right side!
Start 2 stitches before the marker-thread, knit 2 together.
SHORT ROWS
Short rows are worked at the end of each row from the right side and beginning of each row from the wrong side. AT THE SAME TIME, continue the picot-edge after the marker-thread (from the right side).
ROW 1 (right side) and each row from the right side: Knit to marker-thread, work the picot-edge.
ROW 2 (wrong side side): Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit 21, turn.
ROW 4: Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit 18, turn.
ROW 6: Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit 15, turn.
ROW 8: Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit 12, turn.

ROW 12: Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit 6, turn.
ROW 14: Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit 3, turn.
ROW 16: Work the picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, then knit to end of row.
SHAWL - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The shawl is worked in GARTER STITCH with a PICOT-EDGE along one side – read explanations above, and back and forth from side to side.
SHAWL
Cast on 6 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Daisy. Knit 1 row from the wrong side. Insert 1 marker-thread after the first 2 stitches on the right side row (the 4 stitches after the marker-thread are for the picot-edge). Work as follows:
ROW 1 (right side): Knit 1, increase 1 stitch – read INCREASE TIP, knit 1, marker-thread, work PICOT-EDGE.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Work picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit to end of row (yarn over knitted twisted).
ROW 3: Knit to marker-thread, work picot-edge.
ROW 4: Work picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit to end of row.
ROW 5: Knit until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-thread, increase 1 stitch, knit 1, work picot-edge.
ROW 6: Work picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit to end of row (yarn over knitted twisted).
ROW 7: Knit to marker-thread, work picot-edge.
ROW 8: Work picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit to end of row.
Repeat ROWS 5-8 until there are 35 stitches left (increasing 1 stitch every 4th row; every 2nd row from the right side). Remember to maintain the knitting tension.

* Work SHORT ROWS – read explanation above (= 16 rows. NOTE: Continue the increases before the picot-edge every 4th row). After the short rows, work 6 ridges (see GARTER STITCH) across all stitches with the picot-edge as before , work from -* a total of 5 times = 70 stitches. The piece measures approx. 45 cm (measured at the beginning of the row from the right side). Insert 1 marker at the beginning of this row from the right side; used to measure from.
The increases are finished. Continue as follows from the right side: * Work short rows (= 16 rows), then 6 ridges across all stitches with the picot-edge as before , work from -* a total of 15 times, then work 1 repeat of short rows (= 16 rows). The piece measures approx. 50 cm from the marker and 95 cm from the cast-on edge.

Now decrease as follows: * Work 6 ridges across all stitches with picot-edge as before, decreasing 1 stitch every 4th row (every 2nd row from the right side) – read DECREASE TIP. After the 6 ridges, work short rows (continuing to decrease before picot-edge as before every 4th row) , work from -* a total of 5 times = 35 stitches.
The piece measures approx. 112 cm from the cast-on edge.
Continue as follows:
ROW 1 (right side): Knit until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-thread, decrease 1 stitch, work picot-edge.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Work picot-edge as far as the marker-thread, knit to end of row.
ROW 3: Knit to marker-thread, work picot-edge.
