SOCK – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down.
The length of the sock is matching the length of the foot. If you want the sock to be stretched a little when wearing it, the length of the sock can be knitted a little shorter before decreasing for the toe.
LEG
Cast on 44-44-52-52-60-60-68 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and colour sea green DROPS Karisma. Knit 1 round, then work 1 round of rib (knit 1, purl 1). Change to colour light grey green and continue with rib until the piece measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-5 cm. Knit 1 round where you decrease 4 stitches evenly spaced = 40-40-48-48-56-56-64 stitches.
Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work A.1 5-5-6-6-7-7-8 times in width on the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
On the round with arrow-1 decrease 2-0-2-0-4-4-4 stitches evenly spaced = 38-40-46-48-52-52-60 stitches.
On the round with arrow-2 decrease 0-0-0-0-4-0-4 stitches evenly spaced = 38-40-46-48-48-52-56 stitches.
When A.1 is finished the piece measures approx. 15-15-15-15-16-16-17. If the piece is shorter than this continue with stocking stitch and colour light beige brown to the correct length. Cut the strand.
HEEL AND FOOT
Keep the first 10-10-12-12-12-13-14 stitches on the needle for the heel, place the next 19-21-23-25-25-27-29 stitches on a thread (top of foot) and keep the last 9-9-11-11-11-12-13 stitches on the needle for the heel = 19-19-23-23-23-25-27 heel-stitches.
Work pattern back and forth as follows:
SIZES 24/25 - 26/28 - 29/31 - 32/34 - 35/37 – 41/43:
Work A.2, then A.3 2-2-3-3-3-4 times, work A.4, A.2, then A.3 2-2-3-3-3-4 times. Continue this pattern back and forth.
SIZE 38/40:
Work A.3 4 times, A.4, A.2, then A.3 3 times, work the first stitch in A.3.
Continue this pattern back and forth.
ALL SIZES
When A.2 to A.4 are finished in height, the heel measures approx. 5½ cm. Work 0-0-0-0-½-½-1 cm stocking stitch with colour sea green. The heel now measures 5½-5½-5½-5½-6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from this marker.
Work HEEL DECREASES with colour sea green – read description above!
After the heel decreases continue with colour light beige brown as follows: Knit the 7-9-9-9-11-13-15 heel stitches, knit up 12-12-12-12-13-13-14 along one side of the heel, knit the 19-21-23-25-25-27-29 stitches from the thread and knit up 12-12-12-12-13-13-14 along the other side of the heel = 50-54-56-58-62-66-72 stitches. Work to the middle of the heel – the round now starts from here.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the 19-21-23-25-25-27-29 stitches on top of the foot.
Work stocking stitch in the round with colour light beige brown and decrease on each side as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the second marker.
Decrease like this every round a total of 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 times, then every 2nd round 5-6-6-6-6-6-7 times = 34-36-38-40-42-46-50 stitches.
Continue working until the foot measures 10-12-13-15-17-18-21 cm from the marker on the heel and measured under the foot. Work A.5. When A.5 is finished continue with stocking stitch and colour sea green until the foot measures 11-13-14-16-18-19-21 cm. There is approx. 4-4-4-4-4-5-5 cm left; try the sock on and work to desired length
TOE
Insert 1 marker on each side, with 17-18-19-20-21-23-25 stitches on top of and underneath the foot. Work stocking stitch with colour sea green. AT THE SAME TIME, on the first round decrease on each side of both markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 6-6-6-5-5-5-5 times, then every round 0-1-1-3-3-4-5 times = 10-8-10-8-10-10-10 stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.
The foot measures approx. 15-17-18-20-22-24-26 cm measured under the foot.
Work the other sock in the same way.
