HAT- SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The pattern uses needles of different lengths; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary.
The hat is worked in the round bottom up, first in English rib then in rib.
HAT
Cast on 70-78 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm, 1 strand DROPS Nord/DROPS Alpaca and 2 strands DROPS Kid-Silk (3 strands).
Work ENGLISH RIB in the round– read explanation above.
Work until the piece measures 12 cm. Knit 1 round, knitting the yarn overs together with their respective stitches.
Work 1 round of rib (purl 1, knit 1) and increase 10-10 stitches evenly on the round = 80-88 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Continue the rib (purl 1, knit 1).
When the hat measures 23-23 cm (8-9 cm to finished length) insert 4 markers, each in a knitted stitch with 19-21 stitches between each marker-stitch.
Decrease 2 stitches by each marker – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2nd round 8-9 times = 16-16 stitches. Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 8-8 stitches. Cut the strands, thread them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.
The hat measures approx. 31-32 cm. Fold up the bottom 8-8 cm to the right side. The hat now measures 23-24 cm.
