BASKET- SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The basket is worked in the round, from middle of the bottom and upwards. The whole basket is worked in 2 strands.
BOTTOM
Work 4 chain stitches with hook size 6 mm and 2 strands Paris; form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Read CROCHET INFO and DOUBLE STRAND TIP, see descriptions above.
ROUND 1: Work 6 double crochets around the ring
ROUND 2: Work 2 double crochets in each double crochet = 12 double crochets.
ROUND 3: Work * 1 double crochet in the first double crochet, 2 double crochets in the next double crochet , work from - to end of round = 18 double crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
ROUND 4: Work * 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 double crochets, 2 double crochets in the next double crochet , work from - to end of round = 24 double crochets.
Continue working double crochets in the round, increasing 6 double crochets on each round; i.e. on each round you work 1 more double crochet between each increase. When the bottom measures approx. 18 cm in diameter work the sides of the basket as described below (without cutting the strands).
SIDES
Continue working in the round, but without increasing until the height of the basket is approx. 8 cm.
EDGE IN LOBSTER STITCH
Work an edge around the top of the basket with lobster stitch (lobster stitch = work double crochets from left to right). Cut and fasten the strands.
