Technique: Regular Crochet
Finished size
Approx. 2.5″ wide x 4″ long
Materials
- Small amount Red Heart “Super Saver” shown in color Medium Thyme
- Suggested hook: K-10.5 (6.5mm)
- Needle (for weaving ends)
Gauge
Gauge isn’t crucial. If you want a smaller leaf, use a smaller hook or finer yarn. If you want a larger leaf, use a larger hook or a heavier yarn.
Special Stitches
Extended Single Crochet (esc): Insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through one loop on hook (chain made), yarn over, pull through two loops on hook.
Foundation Single Crochet (fsc): Insert hook in extra chain made at bottom of previous single crochet, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through one loop on hook (chain made), yarn over, pull through two loops on hook.
Notes
When a pattern states to turn 180 degrees and begin working in the unused loops of the foundation chain, it means to turn it upside down and work in the chains at the bottom of the single crochet.
Instructions
Row 1: Ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and in next 6 ch, 3 sc in last ch, turn 180 degrees to begin working in unused lps of foundation ch, sc in next 4 ch, esc in next ch, [fsc in last sc worked] twice, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, [sc, ch 2, sc] in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, [sc, ch 2, sl st in second ch from hook, sc] in ch-2 sp, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, fasten off.
Vine
Join yarn with sl st in the center of the indention at the bottom of the leaf, make a chain as long as desired, fasten off.
Finishing
With needle, weave in all ends securely.
