CHAIN STITCH
If you work at the back of the crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 treble crochet/double crochet is wide.
PATTERN
Hat: See diagrams A.1 to A.6.
Neck warmer: See diagrams A.7 to A.9.
INCREASE TIP
Increase 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets in same stitch.
HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
Work in the round top down. First work in the round in treble crochet while at the same time increasing, then work in the round in pattern but now turn piece after every round to work alternately from right side and from wrong side.
HAT
Use hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Work A.1 = 11 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches.
Continue to work as follows: Work A.2, work A.3 11 times in total on around the ring. Continue pattern like this (increase 12 treble crochets every round). Remember to follow the crochet tension!
In size S/M and M/L finish A.2 and A.3 when 1 row remains in diagrams.
In size L/XL finish A.2 and A.3 = 59-59-71 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches at the beginning of round.
Work 1 round with treble crochet and increase at the same time 6-10-2 treble crochets evenly – read INCREASE TIP = 65-69-73 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches at the beginning of round. Piece measures approx. 7-7-8 cm from the middle.
Then work PATTERN – see explanation above and work as follows:
ROUND 1: Work A.4 in the first stitch, work A.5 until 1 stitch remains on round, work A.6 in the last stitch, turn piece.
ROUND 2: Work A.6 in first stitch, work A.5 until 1 stitch remains on round, work A.4 in the last stitch, turn piece.
Continue pattern in the round like this, alternately from right side and from wrong side.
When piece measures 23-24-25 cm from the middle - adjust so that next round is a round with treble crochets, increase 4-4-4 treble crochets evenly = 69-73-77 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches at the beginning of round. Work pattern until piece measures approx. 31-32-33 cm from the middle - finish with a round in treble crochets. Cut and fasten the yarn.
Fold the bottom 8 cm of hat.
NECK WARMER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF PIECE
Piece is worked top down and in the round but turn piece after every round to work alternately from right side and from wrong side.
NECK WARMER
Work 90-104-118 CHAIN STITCHES - read explanation above, on hook size 5 mm with DROPS Air. Slip chain stitches together into a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch.
Work PATTERN – see explanation above and work as follows:
ROUND 1: Work A.5 in first chain stitch on round (i.e. in chain stitch where 1 slip stitch were worked), work A.6 until 1 chain stitch remains on round, work A.7 in last chain stitch, turn piece.
ROUND 2: Work A.7 in first stitch, work A.6 until 1 stitch remains, work A.5 in the last stitch, turn piece.
Continue pattern in the round like this, alternately from right side and from wrong side. Remember to follow the crochet tension!
Work until neck warmer measures approx. 25-30-35 cm – finish after a round with treble crochets, fasten off.
