- Suggested hook size: K (6.5mm) Tunisian crochet hook
Special Stitches
Tunisian Knit Stitch (tks): Notice that each vertical bar goes up into the chain and back down the other side. For Tunisian Knit Stitch, insert hook between these two vertical bars, under the chain, front to back, yarn over, pull loop through. Right-handed video | Left-handed video
Tunisian Double Stitch (tds): Yarn over, insert hook as described for Tunisian Knit Stitch (see above), yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook. (One loop remaining on hook for the stitch.) Right-handed video | Left-handed video

Any multiple of 10, plus 17.
Instructions
Row 1:
A: With Tunisian hook, ch 167, sk first ch, *[yo, insert hook in next ch, yo, pull lp through, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, [insert hook in next ch, yo, pull lp through] 5 times, rep from * 15 times more, [yo, insert hook in next ch, yo, pull lp through, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, insert hook in last ch, yo, pull lp through–167 lps on hook.
B: *Ch 2, yo, pull through 6 lps on hook, ch 2, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, rep from * to last 2 lps, ch 2, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook–1 lp remains on hook.
Row 2:
A: Sk first vertical bar, *(5 tds) in horizontal bar formed by 5-tds group, tks in next 5 sts, rep from * 15 times more, (5 tds) in horizontal bar formed by 5-tds group, tks in second ch of closing ch-2 at end of row.
B: Ch 1, *yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, rep from * across, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Row 3:
A: Sk first vertical bar, *tks in next 5 sts, tds in next 5 sts, rep from * 15 times more, tks in next 6 sts.
B: Ch 1, *[yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, ch 2, yo, pull through 6 lps on hook, ch 2, rep from * until 7 lps remain on hook, ch 2, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 6 times, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Row 4:
A: Sk first vertical bar, *tks in next 5 sts, (5 tds) in horizontal bar formed by 5-tds group, rep from * 15 times more, tks in next 6 sts.
B: Ch 1, *yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, rep from * across, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Row 5:
A: Sk first vertical bar, *tds in next 5 sts, tks in next 5 sts, rep from * 15 times more, tds in next 5 sts, tks in last st.
B: *Ch 2, yo, pull through 6 lps on hook, ch 2, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, rep from * to last 2 lps on hook, ch 2, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Row 6:
A: Sk first vertical bar, (5 tds) in horizontal bar formed by 5-tds group, tks in next 5 sts, rep from * 15 times more, (5 tds) in horizontal bar formed by 5-tds group, tks in second ch of closing ch-2 at end of row.
B: Ch 1, *yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, rep from * across, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Rep rows 3-6 a total of 26 times more, rep rows 3-4 once more.
Final row: Sk first vertical bar, working as for tks throughout, * dc in next 5 sts, sl st in next 5 sts, rep from * 15 times more, dc in next 6 sts, cut off.
Finishing: Weave in all ends securely.
